Acclaimed artist Wendy Sharpe returns to show how painting can change a negative mindset to one of hope and positivity, a powerful tool in mental illness recovery.
Wendy’s plan for the day involves a series of steps leading the group towards the creation of a large mural.
The set-up asks participants to nominate people and places that have made a difference to them, people and places they appreciate. The group choose their favourites, designing a symbol that represents these positive thoughts and memories.
Nat pairs with Vivienne to work on a very personal dedication honouring people close to their hearts. It’s an opportunity for Viv to work through bittersweet memories of her mum. Mohammad and Ben’s collaboration kicks off with an awkward start, and they continue to struggle as the day unfolds.
Neil’s design of a plane reminds him of fond travel memories exploring the world. But for Bronwyn, the image brings up painful memories of losing her brother in a plane crash, a trigger she tries to manage in the moment.
