They are the hard-core gold prospectors of Outback Australia on a mission to strike it rich!
Whether it’s back-breaking work, extreme weather conditions, mechanical breakdowns or cutthroat competition, prospecting is not for the faint-hearted. But the Aussie Gold Hunters are back for another season and they’re tough, resourceful, and ready for the challenge.
For the first time in history, Australia is the biggest gold producer in the world. Huge hauls and record prices are driving a 21st century gold rush, fuelling competition from around the globe. In the brand-new season, the prospectors take the hunt to Australia’s final frontiers where the veteran miners fight to keep their gold plants operating in the brutal outback conditions.
This season, the hunt for gold will tear some teams apart and unite others in the hottest gold rush on earth. One crew travel to the legendary Palmer River gold fields in far North Queensland, where according to history books, record amounts of gold have been discovered.
It’s home to the largest reptile on the planet, the Saltwater Crocodile, as well as the Western Taipan, a snake with the most toxic venom of any in the word, making it one of the most dangerous gold fields in Australia.
Meanwhile, The Poseidon crew are faced with one of the biggest decisions of their careers; whether to sell up ‘The Big License’ and their entire operation to buy the historic Catto’s Paddock.
This is the site where ‘The Precious’ was found in 1871, one of the biggest nuggets ever to be uncovered, weighing in at 1,621oz and worth an eye-watering 4 million dollars in today’s prices. But will they have the same luck if they decide to risk it all?
