The new star of The Bachelor Australia for 2022 has been revealed, and before Channel 10 could even make an official announcement.

Eagle eyed Aussies have photographed the Channel 10 show filming on the Gold Coast, Queensland, where it has relocated after previously shooting in New South Wales.

Van Hofe was seen with a rose while on a date with one of the contestants, but the woman has not yet been identified.

Outside of the show, he plays for the Melbourne Tigers, having previously played for Melbourne United in the National Basketball League.

The Bachelor Australia will be chasing better ratings this year after series lows were recorded for both the main season and The Bachelorette in 2021.

Channel 10 had already canned Bachelor In Paradise.

Only 482,000 people in the 5 City Metro market watched the premiere of The Bachelor last year, a far cry from its record high in 2018 where 940,000 tuned in.

For ‘Winner Announced’ parts of finales, only 629,000 people watch Jimmy Nicholson choose Holly Kingston, compared to 2015’s 1.482 million for Sam Wood and Snezana Markoski.

Only time will tell if Van Hofe will deliver the ratings that emulate the show’s former success.
