The all-day election coverage begins with Johanna Nicholson and Jeremy Fernandez on Weekend Breakfast at 7am (all times are AEST), followed by extended ABC News bulletins throughout the day from 11am to 4pm presented by Joe O’Brien and Karina Carvalho.

A national edition of ABC News on Election Day at 5pm will cross live around the country for the final word before polls close, presented by Jeremy Fernandez and Mary Gearin.

And from 6pm on Election Night, Leigh Sales, Antony Green and David Speers will spearhead our television election broadcast. They’ll be joined by Annabel Crabb, Andrew Probyn, Laura Tingle as well as Labor’s Tanya Plibersek and Liberal Senator Simon Birmingham.

Antony Green’s peerless analysis of the data will give audiences the most reliable and timely updates across the night and as they happen.

Insiders host David Speers will present a new segment with cutting edge graphics which will show audiences not just where the election is being won and lost, but the trends behind the result. Have coal-communities swung back to Labor, have seats with high levels of mortgage stress stuck with the government? David will answer those questions and more with the help of Vote Compass presenter Bridget Brennan, former Deputy State Director of the Victorian Liberal Party Tony Barry and the former Deputy Campaign Director for Labor in Victoria, Kosmos Samaras.

There will be ABC reporters spread from coast to coast in the battleground seats which will decide who forms the next government, and crosses to the key figures from the major and minor parties as the makeup of the 47th parliament starts to take shape. Greg Jennett and Patricia Karvelas will monitor the mood of the Liberal and Labor camps from their Sydney functions, and we’ll bring audiences the victory and concession speeches live as they happen.

On Sunday May 22, Weekend Breakfast will start at 6am to bring you up to date with all the latest, followed by the final 90-minute Insiders program of the 2022 Federal Election campaign, live from the ABC election centre in Ultimo.

David Speers will be joined by David Crowe (The Age & Sydney Morning Herald) Katharine Murphy (The Guardian) and Samantha Maiden (news.com.au) to break down the result for viewers – where it was won, where it was lost, or if it’s still in the balance, who is likely to form minority government.

Expect interviews with senior members of both the Liberal and Labor parties and a look back at the highs and lows of the campaign in an Insiders post-election montage.

If you’re out on the go, standing in line to vote or at an election night party you can stay in touch by live streaming coverage all day on ABC iview, and catchup on key moments and stories afterwards in our Australia Votes collection.

And on the ABC News website and app, a live blog will run throughout the day and into the night as votes are counted and results start coming in. Follow the blog for the latest results, expert analysis from the ABC’s election team and reporters around the country, and get involved by asking the ABC News team a question or leaving a comment.

  1. Will it be on iView, please? My television goes all weak or no signal in the wet. And it promises to be wet next Saturday.

    I can’t miss Antony Green.

    Thanks
