This week’s 60 Minutes episode has seen a last-minute shake up in stories.

Nine’s 60 Minutes program has been forced to delay a story originally planned to broadcast on Sunday night.

In what was marketed as a major investigation between the show and Nine’s papers The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, award-winning reporter Adele Ferguson was set to expose “horrific” evidence about the cosmetic surgery industry.

According to the show’s original release it would, “surely lead to demands for inquiries and much greater oversight and regulation of the industry in question”.

But a court order has seen the story taken off schedule and replaced with two new stories.

As reported in The Sydney Morning Herald, a New South Wales Supreme Court issued an order requiring Nine to hand over copies of both the 60 Minutes and Herald & Age investigations before the content is published or completed.

Double Bay cosmetic surgeon Joseph Ajaka successfully obtained the court order on Friday night, forcing all media parties to hand over draft copies of the investigation.

Nine had the orders stayed pending an appeal, and agreed not to publish the material before that occurred.

The executive editor of the Herald and Age, Tory Maguire, said in a statement:

“We are alarmed that this decision curbs our ability to conduct investigative journalism in the public interest.

“We are determined to appeal this decision both so this important story can be published and broadcast, and to prevent any precedent that threatens freedom of the press.”

Instead, the two stories 60 Minutes will air Sunday, May 15, at 8:40pm are:

PARTY POOPERS
Anyone who has toiled away for 70 years without complaint on one practically 24/7 job surely deserves a hearty pat on the back. But in the lead-up to the celebrations marking her platinum jubilee, what Queen Elizabeth doesn’t deserve is what she’s getting. And that’s members of her own family stealing her limelight. Her grandson Harry, and his wife Meghan, can’t seem to stop sharing with the world how disgruntled they are, while her son Andrew continues to make embarrassing headlines almost every time he shows his face. On 60 Minutes, Liam Bartlett interviews respected author Tina Brown about the latest claims of dysfunction within the Royal Family – drama that threatens to make the commemoration of the Queen’s milestone unforgettable for all the wrong reasons.

READING, WRITING, RESIGNING
At a time when they are needed more than ever, teachers are deserting the profession. In fact, there are now so many throwing away their chalk and walking out of the classroom that finding replacements to fill the void is an almost impossible assignment. Sarah Abo speaks with teachers who used to love their careers but are now fed up. They tell her the joy has been sucked out of the job and they’ve had enough of being underpaid and overworked. The lack of teachers has become such a crisis in schools around the country that students are suffering, and that has experts fearing a significant failure for Australia’s future.
Reporter: Sarah Abo
Producers: Tracey Hannaford, Sheree Gibson

60 Minutes airs Sunday, May 15, at 8:40pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
