Sky News will broadcast its third marginal seat debate, the Sky News People’s Forum: Hunter, on Wednesday May 4 at 2pm AEST, featuring Labor’s Dan Repacholi, The National Party’s James Thomson and One Nation’s Dale McNamara in a three-way showdown.
The one-hour forum will be hosted by Sky News AM Agenda Host Laura Jayes and feature questions from the most important people in the campaign, the voters. The debate will be broadcast live on Sky News and available to live stream at SkyNews.com.au and across News Corp Australia news websites including news.com.au and The Daily Telegraph.
Live from the New South Wales Hunter Region, the candidates will face off in the critical mining-based electorate that could shape the overall result of the election.
The long-held Labor seat of Hunter has been represented by Joel Fitzgibbon for 26 years, preceded by his father and Labor member Eric Fitzgibbon for 12 years. The Labor Party’s vote shrunk 14 per cent at the 2019 Election, and the once safe Labor seat is now held on a narrow margin of just 3 per cent. With Joel Fitzgibbon retiring – the contest could be a close one.
The Sky News People’s Forum Marginal Debate Series is a new addition to the Sky News Election 2022 programming schedule. The first forum last month was held in the seat of Wentworth and featured Dave Sharma and Allegra Spender. The second was held last week in the seat of North Sydney and featured Liberal MP Trent Zimmerman, Labor challenger Catherine Renshaw and Climate 200-backed Independent candidate Kylea Tink.
Also airing this week is the Sky News People’s Forum: Kooyong on Thursday May 5 at 2.00pm AEST where Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will face off against Climate 200-backed Independent candidate Dr Monique Ryan.
Where is this being held??
My name is Geoff Passfield. I am the United Australia Party candidate for Hunter. I am one of NINE candidates running in the Hunter. I have the number 2 position on the how-to-vote cards for Dale McNamara, Stuart Bonds (independent) and James Thomson, yet I appear to be the invisible man.
