The FOX SPORTS presenter delivers a message assuring her friends she’s OK.
The woman unintentionally drawn into the centre of the Tom Morris sacking this week has delivered a calm and positive message on Instagram after she was forced to confirm her sexual identity when outed in a horrendous leaked WhatsApp group message.
Megan Barnard has told friends she’s been overwhelmed by the support she’s received after the comments.
“To everyone who has reached out, thank you. Fortunately, I am at a place in my life where I am comfortable with who I am and I can handle something deeply personal becoming public.”
Barnard acknowledged that it was through her own personal growth and support from others that she was in a place to deal with this issue as generously as she has.
“Coming out is a process and should never be taken out of someone’s hands.
“I hope my experience can be a catalyst for change in not just the sports industry, but every industry.”
In the days since Morris’s horrible comments many female sports journalists have expressed solidarity with Barnard and implied this kind of boorish behaviour is rife.
