Tonight, the Under Investigation panel will reinvestigates the baffling case of Melbourne’s ‘Mr Cruel’ that involved a series of child abductions and murder during the late-1980s.

Using cutting-edge Data Mapping software developed by international company ESRI that has been used to track the global COVID pandemic, as well as ‘mapping’ serial killer cases in the US – UI re-investigates the baffling case of Melbourne’s “Mr Cruel.”

The terrifying series of child abductions and murder during the late-1980’s was carried out by a perpetrator that police admit was one of the most intelligent and forensically meticulous they’ve ever encountered.

He surveyed fortress-like houses for his victims and left no forensic clues at any crime scene… But those crimes, his victims, and witnesses did generate ‘data’.

From his victims hearing aircraft to geographic commonalities in the abduction and drop-off points he chose; the weather and the time of day the crimes were committed; the tools and binding used by Mr Cruel; a host of unconnected data points…connected by Data Mapping, revealing new coincidences and clues in a case that VicPol still classes as ‘active.’

Special guests in tonights episode:

  • Mike King: [live from Utah] Former senior US law enforcement officer and Data Mapping expert, who has used the technology to crack cold cases in America … or reveal previously unknown victims of serial predators.
  • Charlie Bezzina: Former head of the Vic Homicide who took over the Mr Cruel case in 1993.
  • Tim Watson Munro: Criminal psychiatrist used by the Victorian Police Force’s taskforce investigating Mr Cruel.
  • John Sylvester: Crime reporter – The Age, who wrote extensively and co-authored a book about Mr Cruel.

  1. They only recapped common knowledge. It made out there advanced software that can look at the bigger picture and solve clues but the show ends after talking about chan the 4th victim. Seems to be a recurring theme that they dont investigate anything

  2. In essence, Mr Cruel had used electrical tape and copper wire to restrain people. Then there is the common theme of high voltage substations used as victim drop off points.
It is logical to assume Mr Cruel had access to high voltage lines and sun station equipment.
He would have needed the mandatory electrical license to work on such equipment and have security clearance to enter sub stations.
The present body governing this is Ausnet.
Perhaps they have records dating back to the dates of these attacks, of licensed electricians or contractors that worked on high voltage equipment at the sub stations of interest?

  3. I was born with a special gift I’m a diviner/ dowser and after watching the Mr cruel show by Liz Hayes I used a pendulum to point to an address in Melbourne where this person or thing still might be living 4 Parnell cres. Hope it helps to track it down.

  4. Why isn’t it made compulsory that all serving police members past and present provide DNA might solve quite a number of things !!
