‘Eddie Everywhere’ will no longer be the frontman for the Fox Footy season in a further decrease to his media workload.
The Herald Sun is reporting Eddie McGuire is scaling back his on-air duties with Fox Footy after a decade as the face of the regular AFL season.
The former Collingwood president and Millionaire Hot Seat host had been gradually reducing his workload, with more than three decades spent in Australia’s media landscape.
But McGuire will still lend his hand to Fox Footy, with negotiations reportedly taking place between him and Foxtel for future projects.
As the face of Fox Footy coverage of the AFL, McGuire was a frequent and prime time host and commentator.
Despite this move, he will still host Footy Classified on Wednesday nights and gameshow Millionaire Hot Seat for Nine.
It was only just more than a year ago McGuire stepped down as Collingwood president, a position he had held for 23 years, after the release of the ‘Do Better’ report, which detailed several allegations of systemic racism from inside the club that had gone unchecked for years.
At a press conference announcing the findings of the report, McGuire drew widespread controversy for several issues, namely attempting to spin the findings into presenting Collingwood as progressive and deflecting from his own personal responsibility for the systemic racism.
Outside from his post as Collingwood president, McGuire had recently hosted The Footy Show on Nine and a breakfast radio show with Triple M (both ending in 2019 and 2020, respectively).
From 2006-2007 he was also CEO for the Nine Network.
Foxtel has been approached for comment.
