The moves comes after its US counterpart equally changed their brand name to Paramount Global.
The corporate name for 10 ViacomCBS has officially been changed to Paramount ANZ, with the news announced earlier today.
Via the company’s LinkedIn page, a short post introduced the new name and said: “New name. Who dis?”
ViacomCBS in the US recently announced the company’s corporate name would change to Paramount Global, or simply, Paramount.
This is to reflect all brands associated with Paramount, including Paramount Pictures, Paramount Television Studios, Paramount Network and Showtime.
In a memo sent to staff by chair Shari Redstone and president-CEO Bob Bakish, the rebranding was made to adopt the “iconic global name”.
It added:
“As Paramount, our name will reflect who we are, what we aspire to be, and all that we stand for. It will help advance our strategy of harnessing all our strength and breadth in building the businesses of tomorrow.
“And it will capture the collective power of our global assets, from our amazing brands—CBS, Showtime, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Nickelodeon, Smithsonian, Paramount Pictures, Paramount+, Pluto TV and more— to our global reach and our diverse audiences. All of which adds up to Paramount being the pre-eminent home to, and producers of, the world’s greatest content.”
Speaking to Variety, Bakish said:
“ViacomCBS screams that we’re two companies, and we’re not, we’re one company.”
In Australia, the company’s staple streaming platform is known as Paramount+, and its library holds Channel 10, CBS and Paramount content.
