The voices of a generation
Superstar coaches Keith Urban, Rita Ora, Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy share their magical memories growing up surrounded by music before the greatest voices our nation’s generations have to offer take The Voice Generations stage on Monday, 31 January on Channel 7 and 7plus.
“I started playing guitar when I was six,”
– says world-renowned musician, producer, songwriter and singer, Keith Urban.
“My dad played drums and my grandfather played piano. I was really lucky to have really supportive parents.”
Music was also a family affair for pop star, actress and musician Jess Mauboy:
“There is no greater feeling than singing with my family. I grew up harmonising with my sisters. Dad would always be on the guitar playing.”
Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Rita Ora fondly remembers her early performances at her father’s London pubs:
“My father owns pubs and I would go and sing at the pubs. That was the highlight of my weekend.”
For singer, songwriter and producer Guy Sebastian, watching the next generation of up and coming performers makes his heart sing:
“There is nothing that makes me tear up more than hearing my own kids sing, or love music and discover all that I discovered growing up.”
Family and friends from different generations join forces to perform on The Voice Generations, aone-week special event edition of the smash-hit series. Talented families, friends, neighbour and even students and teachers team up to vie for Voice glory across powerful Blind Auditions and epic Battles, singing head-to-head to claim their spot in the first-ever The Voice Generations Grand Finale.
