The former TODAY show weatherman is finding new life on a new channel.
Viewers of Channel 10 morning show Studio 10 were surprised to see Steve Jacobs turn up on their screens this morning in a live cross from Sydney’s Opera House.
TV Blackbox can reveal Jacobs is filling in for roving reporter Daniel Doody for the rest of the week after a close COVID-19 contact forced staff to be reshuffled at 10’s Pyrmont Headquarters.
Jacobs had been a fixture on our screens as the weatherman on Channel 9’s TODAY show for a number of years until he was replaced by Tim Davies in 2019 as part of a major shakeup for the breakfast show.
His TV career has spanned decades as an actor and presenter.
The role on Studio 10 sees him work with Sarah Harris again; the two had previously co-hosted Weekend Today together a number of times.
Since leaving the Today show Jacobs had found success as a radio breakfast host on  2UE, 4BH, 6GT and Magic 1278 until a change of ownership last year changed the format of the station.
Sources suggest Nine Radio is keen to keep Jacobs within the family and are working on a number of ideas with him.
