The departures were advised in an internal note sent to all staff.

Foxtel’s chief commercial and content officer Amanda Laing sent a note out to Foxtel staff on Friday advising the corporation’s director of entertainment Stephen Baldwin, and General Manager, On Demand and Movies Angus Pitt, were departing in early 2022.

First joining the company in 1998, Baldwin held various roles before leaving in 2010 and working with AI Media. He returned to Foxtel in 2015, and has since led the Foxtel Group through various challenges, such as working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

About his departure, Laing said:

“Under Steve’s thoughtful and strategic leadership, our FNA teams have launched new channels, grown audience against significant headwinds, championed Foxtel Originals, and continually surprised and delighted our loyal Foxtel subscribers. Steve has been a dedicated leader to our FNA teams, especially through a period of complex organisational transformation and the challenges of remote working.

“It has been an absolute pleasure working with Steve since I started at Foxtel, and I want to express my personal gratitude to Steve for his support. I have valued his sound judgement, careful advice, and deep industry and Foxtel expertise. He has generously agreed to stay until March 2022 in order to ensure we have a smooth handover period, and can continue to seamlessly deliver an outstanding entertainment experience to our subscribers in 2022.”

Baldwin will finish with the Foxtel Group in March, 2022.

Pitt has spent 15 years with Foxtel in a variety of positions, most recently taking on the mantle of General Manager, On Demand and Movies in 2017. He was responsible for launching the always-on movie stunt strategy, which increased movie viewership numbers impressively.

Pitt is set to leave in January, 2022, overseeing a smooth transition through the holiday period.

Laing said:

“In his career at Foxtel, Gus has truly seen it all. He previously held multiple roles working across Sponsorship & Sales, and Transactional, where he managed Foxtel Store and Main Event. The most recent addition to Gus’ role, commencing in 2017, was leading the On Demand and Movies teams.  Since he took on this responsibility, On Demand consumption has exploded, with our customers enjoying a revolutionised user experience that includes integrated partner apps.  Gus also launched the always-on movie stunt strategy on Foxtel Movies Hits, which has driven impressive movies viewing numbers.

“I want to sincerely thank Gus for his support and leadership through a challenging period over the last couple of years.  He has achieved so much – and done so with a warm smile, a calm demeanour, and with great intellect and creative flair – and always with a view for what’s best for our customers.”

Laing expressed thanks to both colleagues for their time and effort with the Foxtel Group, admitting it would be hard to say goodbye but was confident they would flourish with their future career prospects.
