MOST POPULAR PRESENTER FINALISTS

SHAUN MICALLEF (Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell – ABC)

Hosting the ever hilarious comedy-news program Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell since 2012, the man himself is one of Australian TV’s greatest comedy presenters.

Formerly presenting another popular show, Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, Shaun Micallef gained recognition when he was a cast member on Seven’s Full Frontal.

Micallef has won this equivalent award at the Logies in 2010, and picked up the AACTA Award for Best Performance in a Television Comedy in 2014.

The ABC program he’s currently at the helm of recently concluded its 13th season, with another yet to be announced by the public broadcaster.

JONATHAN LAPAGLIA (Australian Survivor – 10)

After enjoying a sizable career as an actor, Jonathan LaPaglia became the iconic host of 10’s rebooted series of Australian Survivor in 2016.

With the program set to enter its seventh season, LaPaglia is quickly becoming an esteemed and recognisable face of Australia’s plethora of Reality TV offerings.

About his role as host to the 24 contestants, LaPaglia said, “I think my role is part of the game. More of a coach for the team, a referee, and in Tribal Council, the team psychologist”.

Australian Survivor has won two AACTA’s and one Logie under the Reality TV genre, with LaPaglia there to accept them each time. With no recognition yet for his role as host, the TV Boxies might be where it all starts.

HAMISH BLAKE (Lego Masters – Nine)

Once part of the iconic Hamish & Andy duo, Hamish Blake has proven he can separate and hold his own in Australian media, recently taking ahold of Lego Masters for Nine.

While certainly not recognised for hosting the show due to the several other projects he’s worked on over the years, Blake’s role as host has been a more than welcome decision by viewers.

Earlier this year, it was announced he would continue with the hit show until at least 2023.

Blake’s luck on awards nights are pretty great, with him taking out the most prized Aussie award – the Gold ‘Most Popular Personality on TV’ Logie – in 2012.

SAM PANG (The Front Bar – Seven, Have You Been Paying Attention? – 10)

As comedian, radio presenter, television presenter, writer and producer, Sam Pang is one of the most popular faces on Australian TV right now.

Appearing on both comedy and panel programming, Pang is one of the three heads on Seven’s The Front Bar, which takes a comedic look at the week’s AFL offerings, and is a regular face on Have You Been Paying Attention?, wrapping up the news of the week with hilarious one-liners and some occasional Tom Gleisner-bullying.

Outside of his TV spots, Pang has co-hosted Nova’s Melbourne breakfast show with Chrissie Swan and Jonathan Brown since 2016.

With two hit shows under his belt for this nomination, Pang’s one of the strongest contenders to take out the Most Popular Presenter TV Boxie.

KARL STEFANOVIC (Today – Nine)

While all of the other nominees in this category are featured in prime time telly, Karl Stefanovic gets off to an early start co-hosting Nine’s flagship breakfast program, Today.

First landing the role in 2005, Stefanovic has enjoyed 17 years behind the desk alongside some of Australia’s most recognisable journalists, including Tracey Grimshaw, Lisa Wilkinson, Georgie Gardner, and since 2020, Ally Langdon.

Stefanovic has also been a regular reporter for 60 Minutes over his tenure at Nine, which he celebrated a 20-year milestone for in 2020.

He has been recognised for his presenting role before, particularly at the Logies when he won both the Silver ‘Presenter’ award and the Gold ‘Personality on TV’ award in 2011.
