BritBox Australia has today released a brand new trailer for the highly anticipated original series, Crime.

The new series comes from the critically acclaimed author, Irvine Welsh’s (Trainspotting, Filth and Porno) best selling detective novel of the same name.

The first television adaptation for Welsh, the six-episode production commenced in April 2021 in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and will be available to stream exclusively in Australia on BritBox, arriving express from the UK.

Directed by James Strong (Liar, Broadchurch, Vigil) and David Blair (Isolation Stories, The Barking Murders), Crime stars Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible 2, Batwoman, The Woman in White, The Replacement) as Detective Inspector Ray Lennox. DI Lennox is battling personal demons from a child murder case he previously worked on and addiction.

When his Serious Crimes unit is tasked with investigating the disappearance of a missing schoolgirl at the hands of the mysterious serial killer Mr Confectioner, Lennox must try to put his own problems aside in his search for the truth and redemption.

The series has a highly awarded and recognisable cast including Joanna Vanderham (Warrior, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Go-Between, The Paradise) as DS Angela Drummond, Angela Grin (Harlots, Dun Breedin’, White Lines) as Trudi Lowe, Ken Stott (The Dig, Fortitude, Devils) as Chief Superintendent Bob Toal and Jamie Sives (Guilt, Too Close) as Detective Inspector Dougie Gillman.

Crime is being produced by David Blair for Buccaneer Media and Off Grid Film and TV. Irvine Welsh is adapting his novel for the screen alongside long-standing screenwriting partner Dean Cavanagh (Creation Stories). Executive producers are Irvine Welsh, Dean Cavanagh, Dougray Scott, Tony Wood, Richard Tulk-Hart, Pamela Hansson and James Strong.
