DISNEY launches new animated short for its second annual Christmas campaign

The festive campaign, From Our Family To Yours, aims to inspire storytelling and family togetherness in support of Make-A-Wish®.

Disney announced the launch of its second annual Christmas campaign, From Our Family To Yours, with the international launch of a new animated short, a sequel that tells the story of a blended family navigating festive traditions, old and new, in the lead up to Christmas.

Titled The Stepdad, the animated short premieres globally today, November 3, in support of Disney’s global charity partner, Make-A-Wish.

The Stepdad aims to celebrate family traditions and the power of storytelling that connects families across generations. The touching story follows Mike, as he packs up his final belongings and moves in permanently with his new partner Nicole, and her children Max and Ella. Throughout the clip we see this new family unit grow together in anticipation of Christmas day, as they work through combining existing festive traditions with creating new ones.

At the heart of this story is a very special storybook – a precious item belonging to Max, given to him by his father. The book brings the family closer together as it ignites imagination and wonder, creating magic moments that lift off from the pages.

The Stepdad was created by Disney, once again in partnership with Flux Animation Studios in New Zealand. This year’s From Our Family To Yours animated short has some extra-special magic behind it, highlighting Disney’s long-standing relationship and support of Make-A-Wish. 

The animated short fulfilled the wish of 13-year-old Dylan from the U.K. whose wish was ‘to be an animator’. Dylan’s very own artwork features within the short, along with several other Make-A-Wish ‘Easter Eggs’.
