The very best Spring Racing from Sydney and Brisbane airs live on Seven this Saturday.

Australia’s third richest race, the $7.5 million Golden Eagle, takes centre stage on the Seven Network this Saturday, when fans will enjoy one of Spring Racing’s biggest days, with live and free thoroughbred racing from Rosehill Gardens and Eagle Farm.

The Golden Eagle (1500m) is racing’s premier event for four-year-olds and headlines a show-stopping day at Rosehill Gardens, which also features the $1 million Classique Legend Stakes (1300m) and $500,000 Rosehill Gold Cup (2000m).

In more exciting news for fans, three-time Olympic gold medallist Stephanie Rice OAM will join racing’s #1 commentary team this Saturday to bring viewers trackside interviews and news from Eagle Farm, in the first meeting to be shown under Seven’s landmark agreement to broadcast 31 weeks of the finest Queensland racing every year.

Saturday’s coverage begins at 12.00pm AEDT on Channel 7, 7two and 7plus and will be led by Australia’s pre-eminent sport broadcaster Bruce McAvaney.

Seven’s unbeatable commentary line-up also includes Jason Richardson, Katelyn Mallyon and Emma Freedman, while Sky Racing’s Lizzie Jelfs will be trackside at Rosehill Gardens and Kate Waterhouse will cover all the fashion at one of Spring Racing’s most glittering occasions.

The third edition of the Golden Eagle shapes as a classic contest, with last-start Group 1 winners Private Eye (Epsom Handicap) and I’m Thunderstruck (Toorak Handicap) heading a strong field of four-year-olds. This year’s other contenders include Silver Eagle winner Aim and runner-up Ellsberg, Maximal – a three-quarter brother of retired British champion Frankel and one of three international runners – and Queensland gelding Apache Chase, who is vying for his third consecutive win.

In the Classique Legend Stakes, Everest placegetters Masked Crusader and Eduardo will square off again after their epic battle at Royal Randwick two weeks ago. The star duo won’t have things all their own way, however, with Lost and Running, Big Parade and last year’s winner Gytrash all looming as genuine threats.

The Rosehill Gold Cup looks to be a race between Group 1 winner Think It Over and Gold Trip, who will make his Australian debut on the back of strong European form, but Sky Lab, Lion’s Roar and Shared Ambition cannot be discounted.
