10 has announced its slate of programming for 2022, however, some shows remained conspicuously absent from the presentation.

I have compiled a list of shows and their likely status, as 10 has not responded to enquiries from TV Blackbox.

Axed Local

Hughesy, We have a Problem

Local comedy How to Stay Married starring Lisa McCune and Pete Helliar seems unlikely with the announcement recently from Beverley McGarvey (Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer, ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand) at TV Tonight:

“We’d love to continue to work with that team on new content. I think they told beautiful stories, and they did a great job. We haven’t made a definitive decision, but pretty unlikely, honestly.”

Hughesy, We Have a Problem is missing in action from the line-up and won’t return to the line-up as mentioned by Bev McGarvey to Mediaweek.

Bondi Rescue appears to have been quietly axed by Network 10 with a few unaired episodes to play out from season 16. Beverley McGarvey at TV Tonight has said:

“It’s hard to make those shows in the current environment. They do have value. We’ve done a lot of Bondi Rescue but it’s pretty unlikely I would say.”

Territory Cops got no mention at the upfronts and aside from a small handful of unaired episodes, the show looks set to for the cancellation bin.

Mr. Black, the comedy series from 2019 that 10 has refused to say is axed is finally getting the official axed title from TV Blackbox, after not screening in 2020 or 2021.

Making It Australia will not be back in 2021, after barely surviving its first season and being shifted to Saturday nights to play out.

The Cube has now been axed, despite Andy Lee previously stating the series would return in 2022 with McGarvey telling TV Tonight:

“We have no intention to put it in the schedule in the short term. We loved it. It probably didn’t do as well as we had hoped. So we’re not currently looking at it.”

The Royals Revealed will not be returning for a second season, although 10 still has 3 episodes remaining to be screened from the first season.

It appears Advancing Australia will also not be returning for a second season.

Axed Overseas

Although the following shows have not been officially cancelled by their overseas broadcaster, due to the length of time between seasons, it seems more unlikely that they will return:

  • Toddlers Behaving (Very) Badly
  • The Savoy
  • Insider the Children’s Hospital (titled The Children’s Hospital in the UK)
  • Celebrity Gogglebox USA (titled Celebrity Watch Party in the US)

Returning in 2022

Ambulance Australia was commissioned for a new season back in 2020 for 2021 but did not air and will therefore rollover to 2022.

My Life is Murder is expected on 10 in 2022 after its first window on Acorn TV has been utilized by the streamer. The show previously aired on 10.

International titles This is Us, Law & Order: SVU, Blood and Treasure and FBI: International are all expected to continue in 2022.

New in 2022

After production delays, HBO in America is set to finally air The Gilded Age which will then air on 10.

Set in the 1880s, The Gilded Age tells the story of an orphaned woman named Marian Brook, the daughter of a Southern general who moves in with her aunts in New York City. Here, she finds herself suddenly swept up in the mysterious upper echelons of Manhattan’s high society.

Leftovers

10 continues to sit on new episodes of Changing Rooms and Celebrity Name Game, but it appears unlikely they will see the light of day. This is Australian content that has been paid for, which is a surprise that 10 has not used late night or on a multi channel.

10 Peach

New seasons of Charmed and Nancy Drew are expected, as is a second season of Dating #No Filter.

In a surprising move, 10 is still sitting on FTA premiere episodes of Mom. It appears 10 have the rights to season 6, 7 and the 8th final season but continue to run seasons 1 to 5 repeats in a loop. Here is hoping the new episodes flow soon.

10 ran the first season of Undercover Girlfriends and are yet to play season two if they in fact hold the rights.

The Conners will return for a new season.

10 Peach is currently playing out the final season of The Unicorn.

10 Bold

The network is sitting on season 3 of In the Dark which began in America on June 23rd.

10 Bold continues to run 48 Hours on Sunday nights but remains a considerable amount of weeks behind America.

10 Shake

10 is sitting on season 5 and 6 of The Masked Singer USA and I don’t believe they aired season 1 either.

10 Shake programmers also ripped Pimp My Ride (season 2), Inside Amy Schumer (season 2), Drunk History US (season 3) and Fear Factor (season 2) before completing their respective seasons.

10 were contacted for comment but chose not to respond

Note: Due to an ongoing dispute regarding editorial independence, the 10 Network and its parent company ViacomCBS declined to provide assistance with the preparation of this content.
