Karen’s long career in marketing and media sees her step into the role.
Karen Madden joins the ABC with a broad range of experience working with some of Australia’s leading media brands, most recently as the Group Marketing Director at Nine and before that as General Manager Trade Marketing & Media Services at News Corp Australia.
She has a strong track record of bringing brands to life through insightful and innovative campaigns and promises to be invaluable in helping to drive the ABC forward.

Karen joins the ABC from the Taronga Conservation Society, one of Australia’s leading tourist attractions and conservation organisations, where she was the Divisional Director – Marketing, Communications and Fundraising.
Her previous roles include Head of Media, Sponsorship and Properties at Woolworths, Group Customer Marketing Manager at Goodman Fielder Foods and General Manager Marcomms and Marketing Operations at Coles.
She holds a Master of Science in Coaching Psychology (University of Sydney) as well as a Master of Business Administration (AGSM) and is passionate about coaching and mentoring talent throughout the organisation.
Karen will start at the ABC on November 29.
