Principal photography on For The Love Of Pets, an eight-part docuseries following the heart-warming stories of the staff, volunteers and animals at The Animal Welfare League of South Australia Inc. has commenced.
A not-for-profit organisation built on the philosophies of providing love, care and compassion to every animal that comes through its doors, The Animal Welfare League of South Australia Inc. (AWL) is passionate about providing the highest quality of care to pets in need.
Shot in stunning 4K, the series will follow a cast of colourful characters within AWL who devote their lives to the animals in their care, from vets performing life changing surgeries to the re-homing team working tirelessly to care for and re-home more than 4,000 pets per year, or the compassionate team who manage the pet memorial and cremation services, helping families say their final goodbyes.
The series has been commissioned by Nine Network and is executive produced by Context Media’s Peter Jenetsky and Tim Clucas, alongside series producer Kym Slaby. The AWL is on board as a key production partner, with the series being filmed on location at, and with the assistance of the organisation.
Julie Bellamy, CEO of AWL said:
“We’re honoured to work in our community, helping lost, stray and abandoned pets get the care they desperately need. We hope that this incredible opportunity to show our work will highlight the heartfelt bonds between owners and their pets, raise awareness of the value of pets in our community, and, most importantly, help more pets find loving homes.”
Escapade Media will handle international distribution and sales, with the show already pre-sold to New Zealand network TVNZ.
Natalie Lawley, Managing Director of Escalade Media, said:
“For The Love Of Pets provides the international audience with a prime-time series with unique differences that provide a fresh look at this genre of pet programming. Escapade has pre-sold the series to TVNZ in New Zealand and is discussing the series with clients across the globe. We look forward to confirming more deals shortly.”
Omnicom Media Group subsidiary, OMnet Australia, has provided production financing. EP Peter Jenetsky said new funding models were required to secure financing, and the production team works closely with OMnet to de-risk the commissioning of new production formats, such as this, for the networks.
Commenting on the commencement of filming at AWL, Jenetsky continued:
Looking forward to hearing about our Adelaide Animal Welfare stories.
