Our Aussie, Alex Volkanovski, defends his Featherweight championship belt against Ortega. The two have gone head-to-head all season out of the octagon as opposing coaches on the latest season of “The Return of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Volkanovski v Team Ortega”, and with the pair’s previously scheduled fight in March cancelled due to Volkanovski contracting Covid, we will now be able to see who the real champion is.

Volkanovski is a powerhouse in the Featherweight division, claiming the belt in December 2019 from Max Holloway.

In winning the title, he has become Australia’s greatest current fighter, ranked #4 in the UFC pound for pound world rankings. He enters this fight aiming for his 20th consecutive win.

Ortega has been a mainstay in the UFC world for years, however, was sidelined for a while after losing to Max Holloway in December 2018. Ortega returned in October with an impressive win over Chan Sung Jung, setting up the title shot to face Volkanovski.

In the co-main event, Women’s Flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko comes into this fight with five successful title defences and will defend yet again against Lauren Murphy. Murphy will get her first ever title shot inside the UFC after climbing up the division on a five fight winning streak.

Also on the card, fan favourite and former WEC and Strikeforce Welterweight champion Nick Diaz is back in the Octagon for the first time since 2015, facing another popular face, former UFC Welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in a Welterweight bout.
