ABC series including FISK and EXPOSED: THE GHOST TRAIN FIRE score nominations at Content Innovation Awards

The ABC has scored four nominations for the 2021 Content Innovation Awards, which celebrate the world’s best broadcasters, producers and distributors.

Investigative series EXPOSED: The Ghost Train Fire, which exposed the truth behind the 1979 fatal fire at Sydney’s iconic Luna Park, is in the running for the coveted best Documentary Series Award.

Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra, a feature-length documentary about Australia’s leading Indigenous contemporary dance company, has been nominated for the Best Representation on Screen Award in honour of its focus on First Nations people and culture.

Popular ABC comedy series Fisk is a finalist for Series Launch of the Year, in recognition of its impact across television ratings, marketing and social media.

The nomination is the second international gong this month for the hit legal comedy, which was recently named Best Series in the Comedies Competition at Series Mania, Europe’s largest TV festival.

ABC Kids’ series Big Words, Small Stories has been nominated for Best Animated Kids Program, which honours shows that have enjoyed widespread domestic success or made an impact internationally with sales across the board.

ABC Commercial holds world distribution rights for Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra, EXPOSED: The Ghost Train Fire and Big Words, Small Stories.

Winners of the Content Innovation Awards, which are run by Television Business International, will be announced in London on 4 November.
