Channel 7 have announced the celebrities moving into the new Big Brother house, but not everyone is happy.

After a rocky start that saw one celebrity cast member deported from the country, the line up for Big Brother VIP has officially been announced.

The rumours of Caitlyn Jenner and Thomas Markle Jr were confirmed, but the list of other housemates have left audiences scratching their heads.

With the exception of Jenner, it certainly lacks the star-power viewers were expecting, and appears perhaps the budget was blown on those big international names, not leaving much for Aussie A (or even B) listers.

Others have also taken issue with the lack of diversity in the cast, with only one cast member, Omarosa, a Person of Colour.

How Seven thought this would fly, is beyond me. When discussions of race and representation are at the forefront of every production, when quotas are needing to be met, the whiteness of this cast is jarring.

Of course Big Brother VIP is not only about the names, but how they interact with each other and play the game. Fan-favourite from last season, Danny Hayes, will no doubt be bringing his A-game, but he will meet his match in Survivor’s, Luke Toki. I’m predicting they will be the ones to watch.

Let us know what you think of this list of VIPs!

Big Brother VIP will premiere later this year on Channel 7 and 7plus.

  1. Here’s my take.
Bernard Curry could be interesting…if he makes it past the first few votes. Quite possibly will fly under the radar.
I get why they brought Caitlyn Jenner in, but there are other names who would have had a bigger pull for the show.
As for Danny, as I read elsewhere “Why bring back Danny and not Angela?” I’ll admit, he grew on me last season, but it might be too much Danny in one year.
Dayne Beams, I know nothing about, but that says more about my interest in sport than anything.
Actually, the entire middle row I’ve got no idea about. I fear I must be getting old.
Luke Toki – YES!!! I know him!!! Not personally, but I know of him. Although he never won Survivor, it will be interesting to see how he adapts to what is essentially “Survivor in a warehouse”.
Matt Cooper, name rings a bell, but like Dayne, if he is from a sporting field, I’m not likely to have heard of him.
Omrosa – Please tell me the producers didn’t watch her on the US version and think,”Yep, well see if she’s free.” Don’t get me wrong, I think she could well give Danny and luke a run for their money. If she can adapt to our style of game.
Thomas Markle – Producers, if someone’s claim to fame is that you are someone’s brother, then they are not famous.
I fear a lot of people in this cast were cast to create story. The issue being, a lot of their stories happened before they went into the house. That all being said, if I watch it as though it’s a regular season of BB, I will be fine.

  2. Bollocks. A laughable line-up Especially in the times we are living where we need to even up the race on our screens. No aboriginal vip? No African? No Asian? This is Australia. We are multicultural nation. Anthony mundine would have great to watch or even schapelle Corby than this lot. Where is Tily? Kieran? Angela? Sarah? Gorringe? Rubbish lineup.
