As expected in week 2 the numbers for the Games fade slightly, and the Geeks came home strong-ish in their finale.
Sunrise doing massive business for Seven – it’s biggest numbers in over a year -as the Games continue to own primetime: Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – Evening (7pm) (1,143,000), Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – Night (8:30pm) (1,061,000), and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – Late Evening (10pm) (772,000).
Seven first in both primary (31.6%) and network (50%) rankings.
Nine playing out the last of their counter-Games programming, as A Current Affair (720,000) does its job at 7pm, followed by the finale of Beauty and the Geek (627,000 (588,000 final; 665,000 winner)). Not its best this season but an OK end. A repeat of MOVIE: Bad Moms (185,000) fills the scheduling void.
Nine second in both primary (14.6%) and network (20.1%) rankings.
!0 open their account with The Project (272,000 6:30pm; 406,000 7pm), and even Australian Survivor (595,000) cops a little thump from the Games. The Cheap Seats (255,000) slips even further (unfairly, but I’m in the minority – it’s still too long), and a repeat of Akmal: Transparent (82,000) completes the night.
10 third in both primary (9.2%) and network (14.3%) rankings.
The ABC deliver 7:30 (561,000) and Ms Represented (411,000) into the night…however I’d question the “one million viewers” claimed by Laura Tingle in her sign-off last night, even if it was a dig at the PM not appearing on the show. BTW, has anyone seen Leigh Sales? Catalyst (201,000) and a repeat of And We Danced (97,000) send the audience to the Games or to bed.
ABC fourth in both primary (7.8%) and network (10.8%) rankings.
A repeat of Who Do You Think You Are? (194,000) starts the night for SBS, followed by their regular Tuesday current affairs programming line-up (Games affected) of Insight (126,000), Dateline (91,000), and The Feed (44,000).
SBS fifth in both primary (2.8%) and network (4.8%) rankings.
