Sunday’s 60 Minutes explores why people are still hesitant to get the COVID-19 vaccine, the unknown treatments for menopause, and the twenty-five year old who suffered immense loss and pain in the White Island disaster.

JUST DO IT
No matter how many times the experts tell us the risks are miniscule and the rewards substantial, so many Australians are still hesitant about getting a COVID-19 vaccine, in particular the AstraZeneca jab. Misinformation, mixed messaging and anxiety is leading to decision paralysis. But waiting is the worst thing we can do. As Tom Steinfort reports, “Just do it” is no longer only an advertising slogan for running shoes – it has become a mantra that all Australians must accept in this desperate race to reclaim our lives.

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT
It’s secret women’s business so secret that many women don’t even recognise it, despite it being something every woman will go through. Menopause, transition, the change, it doesn’t matter what it’s called, it can be overwhelming for both women and men. But thankfully it isn’t terminal and it doesn’t have to be life-destroying, although many women feel like they’re going mad when they’re in the middle of it. Even better, once diagnosed there are treatments that not only work, but contrary to long-held belief are also safe.

THE WHITE ISLAND DISASTER
Twenty-five-year-old Stephanie Browitt knows she possesses incredible strength. But it’s a bittersweet truth born from tragedy. Eighteen months ago, the White Island volcano disaster in New Zealand killed her father, sister and 20 others. Stephanie suffered dreadful burns and was critically injured. Now, after many long and painful battles, there’s great news. Her recovery is exceeding expectations and she’s fighting fit, which, Sarah Abo reports, is thanks to a very special group of strangers.
