Just under two weeks until the Olympics start and they can’t come quick enough for Seven.

Beauty and the Geek (808,000) launches well for Nine–slightly lower than it’s competitor’s launch last Sunday–and this should be as good as the numbers get for this season’s run. Hopefully it ticks up for the finale. 60 Minutes (513,000) also up off the back of the launch and the promise of a very fishy tale indeed. The later evening was consumed with tennis as Wimbledon 2021: Pre-Match (200,000) and the Wimbledon 2021: Men’s Final (350,000) saw viewers into the early morning.
Nine first in both primary (23.8%) and network (32.5%) rankings.

It’s only been on for a week and Farmer Wants A Wife (670,000) is doing solid business for Seven (naturally even better in the regional areas), even though it was pushed into third across the five capital cities. Then, a hard turn into Harry & William: What Went Wrong (361,000) seemed out of step and the viewing audience thought so as they turned away in their thousands. The usual Sunday night true crime line-up of Crime Investigation Australia (173,000) and The Real Manhunter (88,000) ran out the schedule.
Seven second in both primary (17.5%) and network (24.2%) rankings.

The Project (320,000 6:30pm; 505,000 7pm) starts 10’s week in the usual manner, as MasterChef Australia (688,000) ticks up from last week for its semi-final and looks toward Tuesday for the second part of the grand final (yes, they’re splitting it…sigh). It was followed by a MasterChef Australia – MasterClass (643,000) as the disappointing ratings result across this season sadly continues. New then repeat eps of FBI (215,000; 93,000) sees 10’s night to an end.
10 third in both primary (14.9%) and network (20.7%) rankings.

Even though it was a slower night for the ABC that didn’t make its offerings less than excellent. New Grand Designs (505,000) followed by the incredible documentary film My Name Is Gulpilil (283,000) both made for compelling viewing. A repeat of Agatha Christie’s The Pale Horse (80,000) rounds out the night.
ABC fourth in both primary (10.3%) and network (14.5%) rankings.

A repeat of Great Wall of China: The Hidden Story (169,000) starts the night for SBS, however all the business on the multi-cultural broadcaster was for the Tour de France live (stage 15) (167,000).
SBS fifth in both primary (5.7%) and network (8.1%) rankings.

  1. Is there a reason why you always drive a dagger through 10 with your rating recaps, yet similar figure on other channels (7 and 9) do good business? Main point with story above: 7pm FWAW (7), 670000, good business. 9pm MCAU: Mastercard (643,000) “Disappointing season continues”.
27,000 difference in viewers, programs 2hrs apart.
Same old (boring) biased battering of 10.

You must really hate channel 10.

    • Hi “Anon” – I don’t hate 10 at all. They get wraps for the good results all the time. This MChef result landed them in second in the timeslot, however nobody could argue this season has been a success as it has often landed third in same. In a three horse commercial race that’s not where you want to land and it is disappointing for the season. Also, it was the MasterClass, not “Mastercard, and you can’t compare programs well that run in different slots, especially in 2021. There’s too many variables to have one above the other like length of program, competition, timeslot, etc.

      Thanks for reading! 🙂
