Jamie Whincup will look to continue his remarkable dominance of the Townsville 500 when the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship resumes live and free on the Seven Network this weekend, with the seven-time Supercars champion gracing Reid Park Street Circuit for the final time.

Whincup sits unchallenged on the all-time victory list at Reid Park with a remarkable 12 wins – and 20 podium finishes – from 29 races, and he will be hoping to cut into the Championship lead of Red Bull Ampol Racing teammate Shane van Gisbergen this weekend in front of a bumper Townsville crowd.

Two of motorsport commentary’s freshest new faces, Jack Perkins and Brad Hodge, will lead Seven’s coverage from Townsville, which features a combined 500km of Supercars racing across race 15 on Saturday and race 16 on Sunday.

Perkins, a long-time Supercars driver and the son of motorsport legend Larry Perkins, will host and provide expert comments from pit lane, while Australian cricket great and motorsport lover Hodge will bring fans all the colour and atmosphere from Reid Park.

The live and free broadcast kicks off at 1.00pm AEST on Saturday on Channel 7 and 7plus in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, and on 7mate and 7plus in Perth.

Adelaide viewers will need to switch to 7mate at 2.30pm local time.

On Sunday, Seven’s coverage begins at 12.00pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7plus in Sydney and Brisbane, and on 7mate and 7plus in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Perth viewers will need to switch to Channel 7 at 12.00pm local time.

Once again, fans will not miss a second of the Supercars race action with Seven’s coverage to continue uninterrupted during commercial breaks via cutting-edge picture-in-picture (PiP) technology.

Motorsport icons Mark Skaife and Garth Tander along with Chad Neylon will also be part of the coverage, plus fan favourites Charli Robinson and Mark Larkham in pit lane.
Fans will enjoy a trip down memory lane again this weekend as 7’s Motorsport Classics returns as the lead-in to Seven’s Supercars coverage on both days.

As host Jack Perkins revisits some of the greatest moments in Australian motorsport from the Seven vault, with thanks to Shannons, episode three (12.30pm AEST Saturday) relives some of the wettest and wildest racing in Supercars history, while episode four (11.30am AEST Sunday) looks back at some of most exciting and damaging races on the punishing streets of Townsville and Adelaide.

On both race days this weekend, viewers in all capital cities will be able to watch full race replays on 7plus on demand.

A one-hour package of Saturday’s highlights will also be shown on Channel 7 and 7mate directly following Seven’s AFL broadcast (Brisbane Lions v St Kilda) in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, from 11.00pm AEST Saturday. It will be shown in Perth on Channel 7 at 12.00am local time.

A one-hour package of Sunday’s highlights will screen on Channel 7 at 12.50am Monday local time in all capital cities.

Three two-hour encores of both days’ highlights will also run in all capitals next week on 7mate, starting at 3.30pm local time on Monday, 12.00am on Tuesday and 10.00am on Friday.

The other blockbuster Supercars events coming to Seven and 7plus in 2021 are:

  • Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight, Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek, 21-22 August
  • Repco Bathurst 1000, Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit, 8-10 October
