Four live and free crunch games over four days.
Fans will witness a truly unforgettable piece of history on the Seven Network this Saturday night when Hawthorn superstar Shaun Burgoyne becomes the first Indigenous player – and just the fifth footballer ever – to play 400 AFL games.
On a landmark occasion no sport lover wants to miss, Burgoyne will fittingly bring up his momentous milestone when the Hawks clash with his former side Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium. Seven’s live and free coverage starts at 7.00pm AEST Saturday on Channel 7 and 7mate.
Seven will pay tribute to the four-time premiership player during Saturday night’s half-time break with an exclusive sit-down between Burgoyne and some of the most influential figures in his career: his only two AFL coaches, Alastair Clarkson and Mark Williams, long-time friend and on-field rival Mathew Stokes, and current teammates Jarman Impey and Chad Wingard.
The Hawks-Power clash is one of four unmissable live and free matches this week on Channel 7 and 7mate. The others are:
• Gold Coast v Richmond, Marvel Stadium (relocated from Metricon Stadium) – 7.00pm AEST Thursday
• Geelong v Essendon, GMHBA Stadium – 7.00pm AEST Friday
• Collingwood v St Kilda, MCG – 3.00pm AEST Friday – when Collingwood caretaker Robert Harvey will coach against the team where he played 383 games for the first time
The AFL’s #1 commentary team will again lead Seven’s Round 16 coverage, this weekend featuring Brian Taylor, Hamish McLachlan, Daisy Pearce, Wayne Carey, Luke Darcy, Matthew Richardson, Abbey Holmes, Jobe Watson, Jimmy Bartel, Chris Johnson, Jason Bennett and Nigel Carmody.
Three-time Brisbane Lions premiership defender Justin Leppitsch will also be part of Seven’s coverage of Gold Coast v Richmond on Thursday night.
On Sunday Footy Fest, Abbey Gelmi, Tim Watson and Heath Shaw have your Sunday of football covered again this week from 12.00pm in Melbourne, starting with the Round 12 VFL match between Collingwood and Sandringham at the Holden Centre.
There will plenty of laughs tonight when five-time Hawthorn premiership great Gary Ayres joins Mick Molloy, Sam Pang and Andy Maher at The Front Bar on Channel 7 and 7plus at 8.30pm in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, and 11.45pm in Sydney and Brisbane. Shaun Burgoyne will also chat to the team ahead of his historic 400th game.
After Friday night’s Cats-Bombers clash, Adam Cooney and Cam Luke will settle in on the Armchair Experts sofa to give their unique take on all the fallout from the big match on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus.
On Monday night, premiership teammates and footy mavericks Heath Shaw and Dale Thomas will give fans an unfiltered view of the game’s biggest stories on the Heater and Daisy Show on 7plus.
