Following a major film archive restoration project, 7NEWS will broadcast a major two-part documentary special which for the first time will present historical Gold Coast news footage in high definition.
The films featured have recently been restored and converted to HD at the Channel 7 Queensland archive as part of the largest film transfer occurring at any television station in Australia.
The restoration project started in 2016 when 19 shipping containers worth of tapes and films were delivered to the station from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide to begin the digitisation of the Seven Network archives, including all film news footage shot by 7NEWS in Queensland since the birth of television in 1959.
From the project 7NEWS Presents: Gold Coast Uncovered was born, giving viewers and important record of the greatest documented moments in the Gold Coast’s history in today’s highest video quality.
Hosted by 7NEWS Gold Coast’s Amanda Abate, 7NEWS Presents: Gold Coast Uncovered showcases the biggest and most fascinating news stories from the Gold Coast news archives, with contributions from 7NEWS’ Sharyn Ghidella, Max Futcher and Rod Young.
