The first record session of the new season of ABC’s comedy show was disrupted by a coronavirus outbreak.
Staff at the ABC were forced to change their plans of having a LIVE studio audience for the taping of the premiere episode of the new season of Mad As Hell.
TV Blackbox can reveal audience tickets had been allocated and the production team were looking forward to having the energy of a live audience for the taping. Audiences were kept away from the studio last season due to the COVID-19 outbreak, so the return of an audience had been highly anticipated.
But after Tuesday’s government announcement about new COVID-19 restrictions from 6pm, the ABC decided to not have a live studio audience in the interests of health and safety.
The ABC has confirmed all audience members were contacted before the show and told not to make their way to the Melbourne studio.
With a new lockdown beginning at midnight tonight in Melbourne, the TV production sector is now trying to work out what can and can’t be done over the next seven days.
Multiple reality shows, including The Real Housewives of Melbourne are currently filming in the city.
