French Chef, Manu Feildel has an engaging nature and a zest for life.

His passion for entertaining has made him a regular on our TV screens over the last decade. He shares his journey from France to Australian TV screens with Anh and reveals some of the toughest moments of his life.

From the very first day Manu worked in a kitchen, he knew he had found his calling, pushing to the side his desire to become a clown. After serving a tough apprenticeship, Manu, at 18, left his country for the first time and took up a job in London where he worked his way to the top.

In 1999 he moved to Australia and within hours of sliding some CV’s under the doors of restaurants in Bondi, he was offered a job. Manu’s passion for entertaining and making people happy has been a constant through his life and he jumped at the opportunity to appear on Ready Steady Cook.

That foray into television would be the start of an incredible journey into the world of entertainment where he could combine two of his greatest passions.

Manu shares with Anh some of the toughest and darkest experiences he has faced but through it all he continued to throw himself at every opportunity. It is a testament to his nature that he has developed a warm and engaging personality, and he exudes an infectious joy for life.

Anh has to capture the desire, determination and French flair of man who has worked hard for his opportunities.

Still to come this season, Li Cunxin a ballet dancer originally from China, and Marcia Hines share her stories of coming to Australia.

Anh also chats to homegrown heroes, Dr Harry Cooper, Australia’s original TV Vet. Much loved singer songwriter Missy Higgins.

Anh’s challenge is to capture a mix of resilience, inspiration and authenticity in the portraits that he paints – Anh enjoys intimate and often revealing conversations -but how will his guests react when he presents them with their portrait?
