It’s very much one way traffic at 7pm, and there’s nothing the other commercial networks can do about it (it would seem).
Lego Masters Australia (767,000) lays down another entertaining episode and solid win for Nine, that knocks onto 60 Minutes (460,000)…though not as much of the audience hung around for that. Australian Crime Stories (116,000)
completes the night satisfactorily.
Nine first in both primary (22.1%) and network (31.8%) rankings.
Big Brother Australia (531,000) is locked in a two-way battle for a distant second (last night ending up third), and that’s not anywhere they want to be. It’s even sliding out of the key demos almost–this was a key platform Seven were resting on with this franchise and it isn’t paying off. Crime Investigation Australia: Most Infamous (254,000) and The Real Manhunter (146,000)
prove true crime appears to be best left for podcasts.
Seven second in both primary (17.8%) and network (27.2%) rankings.
The Project (269,000 6:30pm; 409,000 7pm) isn’t even in the running really, and hurts 10’s 7:30pm offering as a lead-in. It’s an interesting case study as many have suggested it would get 200-300k more on one of the other commercials, but where would they put it? Hmm… MasterChef Australia (567,000) really struggling to keep audiences engaged as they whittle down the Top 24 to something more manageable. Too many people/cuisines/interests/back stories to keep up with makes this first half of the otherwise dependable series a punish. The new and repeat eps of FBI: Most Wanted (226,000; 144,000) complete 10’s run for the night.
10 third in both primary (13.1%) and network (20%) rankings.
Spicks and Specks (498,000) continues to be dependable for the ABC, though not rating as well as past seasons. Have Aunty overcooked the golden goose? Despite being incredible Aussie drama Wakefield (174,000) isn’t drawing big numbers, though I suspect the entire series landing on iview over Easter meant those that wanted to watch it already have. Smother (157,000) and a repeat of Top Of The Lake: China Girl (46,000) see an end to Sunday for Aunty.
ABC fourth in both primary (10.2%) and network (14.5%) rankings.
