After a week of dramatic promos, Seven has now confirmed its exclusive interview with actor Craig McLaclan will air this Sunday.
The 7NEWS Spotlight documentary will be the first time Craig McLachlan has spoken publicly since he was dropped from the Channel 7 drama series The Doctor Blake Mysteries in 2018.
McLachlan’s career came to a halt after several female cast members on the 2014 production of The Rocky Horror Show accused the actor of indecent assault and harassment.
McLachlan was charged with seven counts of indecent assault and six of common law assault. All of the charges were dismissed by the Victorian Magistrates Court late last year.
McLachlan is now also pursuing defamation suits against the ABC and the Sydney Morning Herald/The Age leading to speculation Seven may be required to edit the interview for Victorian audiences.
A spokesperson for Seven declined to confirm or deny editing may occur by stating:
“The broadcast will adhere to the legal requirements in respective markets.”
Seven is promising the news special, which was “months in the making”, will contain “explosive revelations” including new evidence, new eyewitnesses, and “never-before-seen footage”.
In a promotional teaser video for the upcoming special, an unshaven, topless McLachlan is shown sending a message to his supporters telling them to “treasure” their lives because “they can be taken away like that”.
