In episode 2, The Chambers of the Mind, Simon reveals how the Romantics became the first explorers of the unconscious, long before Freud, Jung and the modern psychological revolution. He examines the writings of Victor Hugo, the prints of Piranesi and the works of Coleridge, Wordsworth and Thomas de Quincey.
