Seven is playing the nostalgia card with the return of DANCING WITH THE STARS and I couldn’t be happier
While the TV industry is still wondering why Seven has brought back an older skewing show for a two week event, the return of Dancing With The Stars is something viewers will love from the get-go.
While everyone has aged, the egos have gone and there is a real sense the stars are here to have fun… and it shows.
Daryl Somers might be a bit awkward at times but it’s Daryl and we don’t care! I will say though, he really does throw in some funny lines along the way but it’s Sonia Kruger who steals the show at every turn — and Daryl doesn’t seem to mind.
Kruger, who is hosting just about everything on Seven now, shows what a natural performer she is as she banters with the judges and brings out the best in the stars.
The show is like a school reunion and everyone is just happy to be there. And that’s not a dis, I really appreciated it.
I came away from the first episode feeling happy. I took the trip down memory lane, I watched in awe as these celebrities danced and I even shed a tear as Schapelle Corby received feedback from the judges.
Dancing With The Stars: All Stars is the show Australia needs right now. It’s like a favourite jumper that just makes you feel good.
It’s been a long time since I came away from a show feeling this way. Each and every one of the celebrities look like they are having fun – even the wildcards (although nerves seem to be getting the better of them at times). Tom Williams, Bec Hewitt and others prove they’ve still got the moves and the judges seem like they haven’t left each other’s side in years.
My only criticism is the show is sometimes too choppy with the editing. This is one of the downfalls of pre-recorded shows because you lose that natural banter. Daryl is cut off many times throughout the show and I think it’s poorer for it.
Maybe most viewers won’t notice that one gripe?
I was not a mega-fan of DWTS over the years, but this reunion special is something very special and definitely must watch.

Please tell Sonia Kruger that she should tone back the outfits she wares to more appropriate for her age.
