How COVID-19 is destroying London’s famous Black Cabs

The COVID-19 pandemic is crippling London.

The NHS is buckling under the sick and the dead, the city’s famous pubs and West End shows are closed, the usually bustling streets deserted as people work from home.

Only taxi drivers can’t work from home, and there’s no work for them on the streets.

Dateline investigates how the city’s black cab drivers are surviving and adapting, with some delivering food instead of passengers, but many are destined for the black cab graveyard.

Australia’s longest-running international current affairs show, Dateline, explores global issues in a way that Australians can relate to – from the ongoing impact of Agent Orange in Vietnam to the dark world of online predators in the UK.

Season 2021, Episode Three: London Cabbies airs tonight Tuesday, 30 March at 9.30pm on SBS
