With the AFL and NRL back the back end of the week is a mess and it offers big hope to Seven.
Seven splits right from 7pm nationally:
SYD/BNE
Starts with Home and Away (276,000), slides into the finale of Wife Swap Australia (172,000) and then a repeat of MOVIE: Fool’s Gold (94,000).
MEL/ADL/PER (Game on 7mate in other markets; airs live in PER)
The AFL (668,000 – 5CM) game was the best thing across the night, and kept a reasonable audience after with AFL Post-Game (520,000 – 5CM). Seven first for only the second time this ratings year in both primary (23.7%) & network (33.8%) shares.
Nine starts with A Current Affair (486,000) everywhere except BNE and then it splits nationally:
SYD/BNE (Game on 9GEM in other markets; airs live in PER)
Never going to be as big as its competition NRL Thursday Night Footy (378,000 – SYD/BNE only) solid in its key markets. Thursday Night Knock Off (147,000 – SYD/BNE only) keeps a reasonable chunk of its audience after the game.
MEL/ADL/PER
Pretty light on otherwise. Mega Zoo (155,000) followed by a repeat of Emergency (120,000), and then eps of New Amsterdam (64,000) and Manifest (51,000) complete the night. Nine second in both primary (17.8%) & network (25%) shares.
10 broadcast the same scheduled across the five cap cities and even then it’s not great for them. The Project (253,000 6:30pm; 356,000 7pm) was down, as were Bondi Rescue (275,000) and Territory Cops (266,000). Still their best for the night, though down on past weeks, Gogglebox Australia (483,000) does its best to lift 10’s hopes but can’t do all the heavy lifting itself. A new and repeat ep of Law & Order: SVU (232,000; 156,000) finishes the night. 10 third in both primary (12.2%) & network (18.8%) shares.
ABC’s Thursday in all sorts of trouble. While 7:30Â (506,000) and Back Roads (401,000) offer a reasonable number, Q&A (232,000) in all sorts of trouble as it shrinks to its lowest yet. It’s hurting the otherwise great Kurt Fearnley’s One Plus One (97,000) with the poor lead-in. Aussie Inventions That Changed The World (138,000) complete the night. ABC fourth in both primary (10.4%) & network (15%) shares.
