The world’s richest race for two-year-olds, the $3.5 million Golden Slipper Stakes, headlines
a spectacular day of live and free racing on the Seven Network this Saturday, including five
Group 1 races at Rosehill Gardens and the Listed Mornington Cup.

Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill is one of the Autumn Racing Carnival’s most prestigious
days, and Seven will have all the action covered there and at Mornington from 12.00pm
AEDT Saturday on Channel 7, 7two and 7plus.

Australia’s pre-eminent sports broadcaster Bruce McAvaney will again lead racing’s
undisputed #1 commentary team on Saturday. In a massive coup for fans, he will be joined
by one of the biggest names in thoroughbred racing, master trainer Lee Freedman, whose
remarkable career achievements include four Golden Slipper victories.

Katelyn Mallyon, Michelle Payne, Jason Richardson and Sky Racing’s Lizzie Jelfs will also
be part of Seven’s broadcast, while Kate Waterhouse will bring fans all the colour, fashion
and celebrity interviews from Rosehill.

Freedman, who was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2003, said: “I’m
excited to be back in Australia and look forward to working alongside Bruce, Katelyn and the
Seven Racing team on what is one of my favourite days of the year.”

The Golden Slipper Stakes (Group 1, 1200m) is Sydney’s most prestigious race and one of
Australian racing’s four “majors”. This year’s edition is one of the most wide-open in memory, as Gai Waterhouse chases a record eighth victory with Swift Witness, the filly she co-trains with Adrian Bott.

Mick Price and Michael Kent junior-trained colt Profiteer is expected to start favourite, but
there is no shortage of genuine contenders including Stay Inside, Blue Diamond winner
Artorius, Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Shaquero, Godolphin stablemates Anamoe and
Ingratiating, and the field’s only undefeated horse, Four Moves Ahead.

On a huge day at Rosehill, every event is a stakes race, including Saturday’s other Group 1
races: the George Ryder Stakes (1500m), Rosehill Guineas (2000m), Ranvet Stakes
(2000m) and The Galaxy (1100m).

Star mare Verry Elleegant will be out to turn the tables on Irish raider Addeybb in the Ranvet Stakes after the pair’s epic clash in the same race last year, while the battle between Randwick Guineas winner Lion’s Roar and runner-up Mo’unga in the Rosehill Guineas shapes as one of Saturday’s other highlights.

At Mornington, the Mornington Cup (2400m) will take centre stage, with the Listed Hareeba
Stakes (1200m) among the other races not to be missed.

With the lure of a ballot exemption into the Caulfield Cup for the race winner, the 2021
Mornington Cup has attracted a quality field headed by Randwick City Stakes winner Mount
Popa, Australian Cup placegetter Chapada, Nonconformist and Irish Flame.

Over the next five Saturdays, fans will enjoy the very best racing from the Sydney and
Melbourne Autumn Carnivals live and free on Seven, including The Championships at
Randwick on 3 and 10 April, which features eight Group 1 races across two action-packed
Saturdays.
