Seven are getting the gang back together for the special event all star series of Dancing with Stars.
With Rob McKnight previously reporting that Daryl Somers is returning as host, I can reveal exclusively through TV Blackbox that Todd McKenney and Paul Mercurio will be back as resident judges on the rebooted series. Â
Both judges were part of the original line-up and were together for the first seven seasons of the show before Mercurio left the series.
The first seven seasons that were fronted by Somers, Mercurio and McKenney never dropped below 1.7 million viewers, reaching a peak in season 4 of over 2.2 million viewers in the 5 mainland capital cities.
Seven’s tactic to bring the gang back together for a nostalgic walk down memory lane just might work with social media garnering mostly positive attention for the reboot.
Rob McKnight has all but confirmed the return of Sonia Kruger to the hosting role with Somers, leaving Helen Richey as the question mark for the series.
If Seven decide to go with a fourth judge could it be the return of original judge Mark Wilson or previous talent like Joshua Horner, Adam Garcia or Kym Johnson?
Seven are going all out for the series return, which looks set to be nostalgic, fun, lively and an opportunity for the audience to reminisce the good ‘ol days of television.
Seven have been contacted for comment.
Dancing with the Stars: All Stars coming soon to Seven
Note: Since this publication, a promo has been released from Seven confirming Paul Mercurio and Todd McKenney and also previously reported Daryl Somers. Promo has also indicated that Helen Richey, Sonia Kruger and Mark Wilson will all return.
