Highly anticipated new season of LINE OF DUTY finds an exclusive Australian home on BRITBOX

The highly anticipated sixth season of award-winning and top rating police procedural drama Line of Duty will be calling BritBox its exclusive Australian home.

Season 6 of Line of Duty will launch on BritBox Australia with a double episode on Thursday, 1st April 2020, with the following five episodes of the season to be released weekly each Thursday, delivered express from the UK.

Making its debut in June 2012, Line of Duty has gained huge traction for the BBC, with its Season 5 finale cliffhanger seeing 9.1M viewers tune in and Line of Duty becoming an enormous ratings success in the UK since the initial season aired.

There has not been a new season of Line of Duty for more than two years with Season 5 premiering in March 2019.

Fans of the series are on tenterhooks for the launch of Season 6 with a great deal of online commentary already starting, leading into its global premiere date.

BritBox Australia will also be the only place for Aussie audiences to stream the complete series of Line of Duty, with seasons 1-5 already available on the service. International distribution of Line of Duty Season 6 is handled by ITV Studios.

Line of Duty follows a team of detectives in Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12) as they work on a series of anti-corruption cases within the police force.

Season 6 of Line of Duty will also see new addition Kelly MacDonald (Trainspotting, Boardwalk Empire, Giri/Haji) guest star. Macdonald will take on the role of Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Davidson – a senior investigating officer on an unsolved murder, whose unconventional conduct raises suspicions at AC-12.

Line of Duty is written and created by Jed Mercurio, and made for BBC One by World Productions.

Season 6 will be directed by Daniel Nettheim (Broadchurch, Doctor Who), Gareth Bryn (Hinterland, Last Tango in Halifax), and Jennie Darnell (Bodyguard, Hetty Feather). Line of Duty is produced by Ken Horn (The Moorside, Line of Duty Series 5). Executive producers are Jed Mercurio, Simon Heath for World Productions and Tommy Bulfin for BBC One.
