In Kumi Taguchi’s first episode as host, Insight asks the question – what’s it like to get to your fifties and find out you’ve got ADHD?
A range of adults from their twenties to fifties share with Insight what it was like to get that diagnosis, how things about their past fell into place and how they used the diagnosis to change their lives for the better.
They are joined by family who share the impact on them.
Insight will continue to be Australia’s leading forum for powerful first-person stories and debate. Journalist Kumi Taguchi will host the program and explore a wide range of topics this season including adult ADHD, favourite children, and class actions – among many others.
I will be tunning in tonight. I was diagnosed a month ago with Adult ADHD. My son was diagnosed also. I am very grateful for the diagnosis as a lot of actions both positive and negative are explained. about 12 years ago I advised my doctor that I was suffering anxiety and depression and I was then referred to a clinical psychiatrist who pycoanalylised me with a personality disorder, which I have since been advised is incorrect.
My lack of dopamine and my pursuit of generating it has ruled my life as I have previously said explaining my actions over the last 61 years.
