While the show was up against the blockbuster Oprah Winfrey special (10) and Married At First Sight (9) on Monday, the show didn’t exactly set the world on fire when it launched on Sunday night with just 477,000 viewers.

The third episode which aired on Tuesday evening achieved a dismal metro audience of 277k.

Seven had originally planned to run the program on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week, but the network has made the decision to drop it from the main channel and air the rest of the season on 7flix.

Earlier we reported Seven had decided to air the show one night a week from next week on the main channel, But those plans changed shortly after our story went live.

The broadcast schedule on Seven’s main channel next week will now consist of:

  • Monday – Declassified: The Royal Scandals
  • Tuesday – Surveillance Oz Dashcam
  • Wednesday – Border Security (Sydney, Brisbane and Perth)
  • Wednesday – Home and Away (double) 2021 AFL Premiership Season Launch (Melb, Adel)

TV Blackbox understands each episode costs approx $1 milion to produce and in these tough budgetary times, the decision to dump a primetime ‘tentpole’ program such as Ultimate Tag will cause the network considerable issues with advertisers.

  1. How dare you people not watch a program like Ultimate TAG if nothing else that program is a sort of throwback to our youth on how we liked to play chasey or tip and we sort of need a fun program to get through these so called virus times

  2. Typical!!!.

Why is something more REAL than most current shows and purely enjoyable as this show being bumped for some of the usual rubbish? The athleticism and good sportsmanship alone is worth watching. Also the possibility of inspiring people of varying ages and gender to give something new a go.
Another positive that comes to mind is having an assortment of REAL people to ‘GO!’ for, wether it be an underdog or a hero who chose to be there doing their best this is genuine entertainment.

Especially compared to a cast in other shows that mostly consisting of many narcissistic egomaniacal
people. Most of them are either damaged and or fake inside and out who enjoy being exploited for their 5 minutes of fame and exposed for all of Australia to see. 🤢🤮

Not every show has to be full of drama, scandal and hostile bitchiness to attract viewers. To be honest there is more tham enough of the same car wreck TV already on the 3 main networks as it is.

    Shame on you channel 7.

Leave ULTIMATE TAG where it is!
