The HBO Original documentary film COVID DIARIES NYC which chronicles the lives of five young filmmakers who turn their cameras on themselves and their families during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, premieres later this month on FOX SHOWCASE.
The deeply personal film, created by five filmmakers ranging in age from 17 to 21, illuminates the plight of essential workers and their families during the early days of the COVID-19 crisis, as they navigate the deadly virus and a country in the throes of social upheaval.
In March 2020, New York City was placed on an unprecedented lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a catastrophic rise in cases.
Though stay-at-home orders mandated closure of all non-essential businesses, those deemed essential continued working amid the chaos of the crisis’ early days, often with little choice but to put themselves and their loved ones at risk of increased exposure to the deadly virus.
With original animation by Rosemary Colón-Martinez, COVID DIARIES NYC is comprised of five brave and at times heart wrenching first-person profiles that provide profound insight into these young people’s experiences as they process the impacts and meaning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
