It surprised even this pundit – that an interview that aired all the juicy bits on the News everywhere also pulled such a massive audience for 2 hours.

Out of the box 10 had a massive night. The Project (347,000 6:30pm; 589,000 7pm) benefitted, certainly for the second half-hour with their best figures this year. All eyes were on Oprah with Meghan and Harry (1,366,000), pulling massive numbers for the tell-all interview. The best 10 have seen in years. Hughesy We Have A Problem (354,000), however, continues to be lost to audiences and sadly loses over one million viewers from the lead-in! 10 in the unique position of first in both primary (24%) & network (29.9%) shares.

Nine’s night consistent with its last two weeks, though not enough to unseat Oprah. A Current Affair (839,000) held its usual place at 7pm, and uncharacteristically Married At First Sight (804,000) consistent though smaller than normal numbers. Under Investigation (438,000) down for week 2, and a repeat of Australian Crime Stories (215,000) rounded out the night. Nine second for both primary (21.2%) & network (26.9%) shares.

Seven started reasonably with Home and Away (545,000), and then dived into simply terrible numbers for Ultimate Tag Australia (260,000). Lock this one up and throw away the key. US dramas 9-1-1 (236,000) and The Rookie (184,000)
continue to deliver for fans only. Big news during Sunrise that co-anchor Sam Armytage would be leaving the show permanently this Thursday was a rumour confirmed and shock for the audience. Expect massive numbers across this week as the family farewells Sam. Seven in a rarified third place in both primary (13.9%) & network (20.9%) shares.

The ABC’s night was full of bombshells. 7:30 (582,000)
was massive, then Shayna Jack’s tale on Australian Story (510,000) continued to deliver before Four Corners (624,000) blew open the Canberra bubble, providing the back story to the allegations around Christian Porter. Media Watch (551,000)
also held strong with an analysis of the media coverage of the same, and The Pacific: In the Wake of Captain Cook with Sam Neill (278,000) finished its season well. ABC fourth for both primary (13%) & network (16.5%) shares.
