ABC programs surge but can’t dethrone trashy people being trashy to each other.
Nine continue to be in the enviable position of a tent-pole reality performing well, along with the programs surrounding it doing pretty good also. A Current Affair (676,000) set a great starting platform though it was Married At First Sight (891,000) that did all the heavy lifting – again – as it won – again. 20,000,000 Americans may be hooked on The Equalizer (352,000) – about 6% – so to have 1.5% here watch the first ep is a start I guess.
Chicago Med (123,000) closed out Nine’s winning evening. Nine first in both primary (24.7%) & network (33.1%) shares.
If you didn’t know better you’d think Seven were waiting for their next big thing to start. Oh, wait. They are. Meanwhile Home and Away (489,000) leads(!) their primetime charge while ob-doc Ambulance: Code Red (255,000) can’t compete with the other 7:30pm offerings, and a double episode of The Bay (202,000; 171,000) brings it and Seven’s night to a finale. Seven a distant second in both primary (14.3%) & network (21.8%) shares.
The ABC’s Wednesday night continues to draw a strong audience. 7:30Â (536,000) followed by Australia’s highest rating quiz show Hard Quiz (584,000) set up a strong foundation. The Weekly With Charlie Pickering (474,000) and Aftertaste (290,000), followed by
repeats of Why Are You Like This (134,000), Adam Hills: The Last Leg (115,000), and a late-night run of Staged (69,000) iced Aunty’s ratings cake. ABC third in primary (12.2%) & yet fourth in network (16.6%) shares.
10 already in all sorts of trouble. The Project (269,000 6:30pm; 464,000 7pm) did OK but nothing special, while the premiere of The Cube Australia (567,000) grabbed a reasonable audience, landing second in the timeslot though that’s where their highlights end. A new and repeat ep of US drama Bull (218,000; 184,000) did nothing to help their cause. 10 jump into fourth for primary (11.8%) & but tick up to third for network (19.8%) shares.
