The tennis came into its own as the ABC surged into second place in primetime… as both Seven and 10 falter.

A great night for Nine, with the Australian Open 2021 Night 3 (704,000) landing a clear win across the entire night. Add to that the Nick Kyrgios defeat of Ugo Humbert (690,000) reveals the match-focused audience within the broad brushstrokes of the 4-hour OzTAM coding. Nine first in both primary (26.2%) & network (34%) shares.

Wednesdays have quickly become a problem for Seven. Home and Away (510,000) delivering their strongest numbers is a clear indication, as Ambulance: Code Red (366,000) and double eps of The Bay (266,000; 229,000) do little to spark interest. Seven well off the pace in second for both primary (16.5%) & network (24%) shares.

On the other hand, the ABC is batting well above itself on Wednesdays as its line-up continues to land in a strong position across primetime. 7:30 (495,000) and Hard Quiz (598,000) – the highest-rating quiz show on TV – perform well, followed by a good but declining audience into the later evening through The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (507,000), Aftertaste (352,000), QI (233,000), and Adam Hills: The Last Leg (139,000). ABC third in both primary (12.5%) & network (17.5%) shares.

The Project (251,000 6:30pm; 429,000 7pm) ticks up a little for the second half hour for 10, however it appears they’ve not learned their lesson with a certain English chef. A double ep Jamie’s Easy Meals for Every Day (268,000; 217,000) delivered a criminally small audience at 7:30pm, and two episodes of US drama Bull (new 163,000; rpt 145,000) don’t lift it any. 10 in a deserved fourth place primary (8.2%) & network (15.9%) shares due to questionable programming choices. #JamieOliverDoesNotRate
