Nigella begins this episode by delving into a historical cookbook which gives a recipe for one of her favourite ingredients – the anchovy.
Praising its virtues, she narrates a quick creamy anchovy dressing recipe which is served with bitter leaves and walnuts, and then creates an elixir which combines silvery salted anchovies with garlic and oil, and not only makes an excellent dip for red chicory but also the perfect accompaniment to a platter of sliced seared steak.
At her twinkling cocktail trolley Nigella shakes up a lemon blossom cocktail using lemon juice and elderflower, a combination which inspired her lemon and elderflower pudding which is eaten with lashings of cream sitting in the garden.
Finishing with a final night-time love letter to the anchovy, Nigella creates a pasta dish of spaghetti with colourful chard and chilli.
