ABC NEWS to present LIVE coverage of JOE BIDEN INAUGURATION plus PLANET AMERICA returns

The historic ceremony marking the end of the Presidency of Donald Trump, and the beginning of Joe Biden’s term as 46th President of the United States, will take place in Washington DC later this week.

Amid one of the most dramatic transfers of power in US political history, join the ABC for the most extensive coverage and analysis, right up to the inauguration and beyond.

US political experts John Barron and Chas Licciardello host a special edition of Planet America, assessing the fall-out of the storming of the Capitol and; Donald Trump’s second impeachment and previewing Joe Biden’s inauguration. Special guests include former Trump national security advisor John Bolton.

On Friday 22 January the new series of Planet America returns to ABC NEWS channel with a special extended edition at 8pm AEDT. Planet America has become the go-to program on the unfolding events, with John and Chas unpacking the complexities of US politics in their own imitable way.

Michael Rowland and Lisa Millar are returning a week earlier than scheduled to cover the inauguration.

Live coverage will commence at 3am AEDT as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are sworn in as the President and Vice President of the United States. Watch the ceremony and listen to the speeches in their entirety, live and uninterrupted.

Correspondents Greg Jennett, Kathryn Diss and Matt Doran will be on the ground in Washington covering every moment.

From 9am, join Stan Grant and Ellen Fanning and our US Election team for an hour-long special broadcast, featuring highlights from the inauguration and special analysis of the challenges Joe Biden faces to bring the US together and tackle the COVID-19 crisis.
