Why Are You Like This – six hilarious and unapologetic episodes that follow three 20-something through the contemporary divisive socio-political hellscape of the modern world – premieres February 16 on ABC TV Plus and ABC iview, with the international launch to follow on Netflix.
Commissioned by the ABC and Netflix and supported by Screen Australia on the strength of the pilot episode which premiered as part of the ABC and Screen Australia’s Fresh Blood initiative, this transgressive – and very funny – series is created by and stars some of Australia’s cleverest young talent, including co-creator and actor Naomi Higgins (who has written for Get Krackin’ and is a regular panellist on YouTube hit Gamey Gamey Game), Mark Samual Bonanno from the comedy team Aunty Donna (as seen on Netflix) and illustrator/writer/lawyer Humyara Mahbub.
Over six laugh-out-loud episodes, we see these three characters follow their questionable modern day moral codes in confronting the complex social issues of an outrage driven world, leaving a path of destruction in their wake.

Hence our new, young team was formed, with a fresh gaze we were able to approach every aspect of the project from non-traditional angles to make something that is not only truly collaborative, but a true testament to our original intentions,”

Filmed in Melbourne, Why Are You Like This is a CKOL production. Executive Producers Jessie Oldfield and Adam Murfet, well known for their stylish TVCs and short films, are co-directing television drama for the first time. Producer is Sarah Freeman, who is producer of the Fremantle and Netflix reboot of Heartbreak High. Script producer is Niki Aken (co-writer of The Hunting, script producer for Upright, co-writer of Anzac Girls) and Executive Producer is Amanda Higgs (producer of Barracuda, Seven Types of Ambiguity and The Secret Life of Us).
