As Brisbane prepares to host the thrilling final battle for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Queensland-born batsman and the “boy from Kingaroy”, Matthew Hayden, joins the Seven Network’s commentary team for the decider in the Australia-India Test series.

One of the most dominant and decorated opening batsmen in the game’s history, Hayden amassed more than 8000 runs including 30 centuries in his illustrious career and held the world record for the highest individual score in Test cricket (380).

Fans are in for a treat with Hayden’s astute cricket insight and experience from tomorrow when he joins the commentary team led by former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting alongside Indian cricketing legend and one of the game’s all-time greats Sunil Gavaskar for the winner-takes-all series finale.

Australian International player and Melbourne Stars bowler Holly Ferling will also join Hayden at the ground in Brisbane.

Hayden said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Seven commentary team and a few former teammates for what promises to be a gripping series finale between the two best teams in the world.

“The pressure is on for Australia after India’s inspired performance on a tense final day of the Pink Test. Controversies aside, Australia remains the favourite in my book, but will need to bring their best, most aggressive cricket to the Gabba.

“I’m expecting big things from the new pairing of Marcus Harris and David Warner at the top of the order, and if Warner can find his form early, I think he’s a real chance of a Test century.”

Seven will have every angle covered with its team for the fourth Test that also includes former Aussie stars Michael Slater, Damien Fleming and Greg Blewett, along with James Brayshaw, Tim Lane, Alison Mitchell and analysis from five-time ICC Umpire of the Year, Simon Taufel.

Australia v India Fourth Test, Friday on Channel 7 Live and free coverage from 10am AEDT
